In unit 1 last week i found a paper base source that i could talk about as well as Angela's story. After the lesson i had to take away Angela's story and read it through, then i had to annotate this story by writing about the different communication barriers that are present within the story and about why this was a certain type of communication barrier. My paper based based story that i scanned that lesson was called Lucy's story, this story was about a women called Lucy who works with 30 other people at an insurance company, she has had an argument with her boss and even though her boss is not that much older than her she acts as though she is better than her and is always having a go at her. After i went home and annotated Angels's story i had to come back to class on the next tuesday and then we had to get into groups and discuss what we had found while being videoed, even though i was nervous i tried to contribute to the discussion as much as i could, and i talked about the cultural barrier between them and also some more parts of the story.

I have completed nearly all of my tasks for each unit so far, i still have some tasks left to do as i need to catch up on some work that i have missed out on as i was off college ill for a few days. Because of this i did not realise that in unit 1 we had to bring in a paper based story that we need to talk about, this is barriers of communications, so this is some of the work what i need to catch up on. I am doing ok in the units that i have done so far, i have found some of the work quite hard as i have not understood it fully, so i needed it to be explaied to me again and then i understand it more. Sometimes i also need help with some of the units like programming because i sometimes make mistakes when i add the code to the programme. Other than this i think that i am doing quite well in these units.

During the ICT course that i am doing i have lots of different units to learn with different teachers. One of these units is unit 1, this unit is about communication. As part of this unit i had to set up a webblog, on this webblog i can create different blogs where i can write about the work i have done during that week. I then made a powepoint presenration in which i showed the different steps i took to create my webblog. I found this easy to create as it was easy to understand. I did this webblog work with Paul. Then i wrote an 800 word essay about about what employers are looking for, in this essay i talked about job interviews as employers will want you to make a good first impression when you have the interview. I also talked about all the different qualities what employers will look for in a person, these qualities were planning and organisation skills, time management, team working, verbal and writen skills and numeracy. I researched some of this information and this helped me to learn more about what employers will look for. I also have to write a 500 word essay for this unit. With this unit being about communicaton it will be able to help me if i apply or when i get a job. At the moment i am ok with the work and i am able to complete it.

I also have other units to do during this course, two of these units are 18 and 21 and these units are for programming. In this unit i have made a calculator i used microsoft visual to create this, i then programmed the calculator and made everything work by addind code into the programme. As this is the first year that i have done programming i did struggle abit while i was adding the code and i made a few mistakes but then when it was explained to me what i had done wrong i realised and was able to correct it. I have Kieran fo six of the units and in these units i have been making spreadsheets and with these i have made budget plans and invoices. I have also been learning about the different software on a computer and i have made different presentations to show this information. I am able to do this work quite well although i did struggle a bit while making the budget planner as i got a few things wrong. Overall i think i am ok with the work and am able to complete it well.
